What happens during a Reiki Session?
A Reiki Session is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The session normally lasts an hour, during which time, the client lies fully clothed on a massage table in a comfortable room where soothing music is played. If you are unable to lie down, you may sit in a chair.
The Reiki Practitioner "scans" your body for any blockages (low or stuck energy) that needs to be addressed. This is done with the Reiki Practitioner's hands moving about an inch or so above the body. These areas will be addressed first. Then following a series of hand positions starting at the head, the Practitioner's hands hover above or lightly on certain parts of the body for several minutes, depending on the flow of energy needed in each area.
What does a Reiki session feel like?
It is not necessary to feel anything for Reiki energy to work. However, most people experience warmth, comfort and a very deep sense of relaxation as the stress, tension & blockages (stuck or stagnant energy) releases from their body. Some experience heat from my hands or a tingling sensation and feel a sense of peace or contentment coming over them, feeling lighter & more centered.
How does it work?
The Reiki Practitioner, being attuned to ancient healing symbols, channels Life-force energy through their hands, in a concentrated form from the Universe, which helps release blockages (low or stuck energy), allowing the energy to again flow freely through the person's body, bringing the body back into balance and accelerating the natural healing process.
What is Distance Healing?
Distance Healing (or Remote or Absentee Healing), is when a Reiki Practitioner sends energy to an individual with the intention of healing. It is widely practiced and is also extremely effective. Reiki is not limited by time & distance.
How do you give a Reiki Distance Healing Session?
When I give a distance healing session, I speak with the client over the phone to discuss how I can best help them. I then have the client lie down in a quiet room while I am working on them. When I am done, I call the client back to discuss the session. If you would like to stay on the phone throughout the session, we can do this also.
Where did Reiki come from?
It is believed to have originated in Tibet, and was then rediscovered by Mikao Usui, in the early 1900's in Japan. He called it "Usui Reiki Ryoho" or simply "Reiki". Reiki was passed down from teacher to student and made its way into America by a student named Hawayo Takata in the late 1930's, spreading quickly worldwide. Today Reiki is used in spas, the corporate world, hospitals, medical care settings, and individually all around the world. The word Reiki is made from two Japanese words "Rei" meaning Universal and "Ki" meaning Life-force Energy.
Is Reiki a religion?
No, Reiki is not a religion. It is a healing system that is spiritual in nature.
The Five Principles of Reiki:
Mikao Usui believed that in order for anyone to practice Reiki and transfer healing energy to others, they must have first taken responsibility for their own health & well-being. He developed five principles as guidelines or rules to apply to life, which are:
Just For Today:
I will not worry
I will not be angry
I will earn my living honestly
I will honor my parents, teachers & elders
I will show gratitude to everything
